Unveiling Lutheran Community at Telford’s Clubhouse at Summerfield

— Take a look inside the new Summerfield Clubhouse and discover how residents are making the most of their new common space —

Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting

In August 2025, we celebrated the grand opening of the Clubhouse at Summerfield for residents of Lutheran Community at Telford (LCT). This event was hosted alongside the development of our Phase IV Carriage Homes in the same cottage neighborhood.

The official ribbon-cutting ceremony and inaugural Open House were a testament to the community’s spirit, innovation and vibrant lifestyle that residents enjoy at LCT. The event began under picture-perfect skies, where residents, staff and partners of the project gathered to mark this milestone and celebrate the many opportunities the new Clubhouse will bring.

Event Highlights

Guests were welcomed with opening remarks outside the Clubhouse entrance by President & CEO Dan McKee and Board Chair Fred Schea and LCT Executive Director Ellen Shrager. Following an invocation from the community’s chaplain, the commemorative ribbon cutting was facilitated by Summerfield resident & LCT resident council member Paul Gruver.

Attendees were then guided into the Clubhouse to partake in a morning of fellowship and exploration of the new space. The open house showcased an impressive spread catered by LCT’s in-house Culinary team. As a special touch, custom Summerfield-branded cookies were shared as guests toured the Clubhouse interior and our Sales & Marketing team shared insight to the construction process and design decisions.

Welcome to the Clubhouse

The Clubhouse’s thoughtful layout is made up of three primary gathering spaces and a large covered patio, each offering their own distinct atmosphere and opportunities for engagement:

  • Straight in from the main entrance, visitors are greeted by an inviting seating area and double-sided fireplace — a cozy focal point for small gatherings and quiet reflection.
  • Off to the right, a game room is buzzing with energy, where residents engage in billiards, shuffleboard, chess card games and more.
  • To the left of the main seating area, a stunning great room flooded with natural light features an open concept, along with pitched ceilings with exposed beams. The room provides ample seating both in the TV lounge and around the fireplace as well as an extended dining table perfect for large group dinners or lively conversations. The adjacent kitchen is furnished with a long buffet island ideal for hosting social hours and potlucks.
  • The great room flows seamlessly onto a spacious covered patio through sliding doors, providing an ideal indoor-outdoor experience set to the backdrop of LCT’s scenic grounds.

These new amenities provided by the Clubhouse supplement an extensive activities calendar, clubs, interest groups and wellness programs found just footsteps away on the rest of Telford’s conveniently-located Bucks County campus. Upon completion of the Clubhouse, a shared vision with the greater community for a roughly 2-mile walking path that borders Summerfield, crosses State Road to The Meadows and interconnects with the borough’s trails was brought to fruition.

Initially, LCT residents played an active role in conceptualizing the Clubhouse by identifying key components they hoped to see in the finished product. Engaging a longstanding relationship with Telford Borough and consulting civil engineers from Horizon Engineering were integral to site planning. Several design strategy sessions with RLPS architects later, our team commissioned Berks Ridge Construction to finally bring the project to life.
